Best Less Than a Minute Film

Ladies, Gentlemen and The Academy...

The winner of The Best Less Than a Minute Film in Sprinklesville is by Sarah Sprinkles:

*THE STORY:
You can fly through life feeling light and happy. AND THEN..a giant detached shark head can come out of the water and try to gobble you up. Will it succeed? Watch for the sequel to be released on DVD!

*THE MORAL OF THE STORY: Don't be an idiot. You should not wait for a giant detached shark head to come and gobble you up because it doesn't exist. Duh!

I couldn't help myself. I couldn't stop myself. And I loved it!

Kisses,
Sarah

PS This was done using my flip ultraHD set up in my kitchen facing a double door shielding my washer/dryer, etc. I selected two frames from each scene and let the software wizard do its thing.

Sunset Boys

For the first time in weeks I slept well. No coughing interruptions. The sleep was deep as I found myself dreaming of places I have never seen or been. My precognitive dreams were back...

Made my way across town again to spend time with my family. The kids were insanely funny. I've included two videos. One is of my cousin Dave and his sons (Colton & Carter) in my aunt's backyard. Carter decided to feed the seagulls and the rest of us looked on. The other is of baby Colton working his teething gums on his mommy's face. He just started doing this crazy thing this week. I dare you to keep a straight face!

Sunset Boys..

Colton teething on Mommy.

This was my lucky shot of this evening's sunset at my aunt's house.

After scarfing down dinner in the sun room, we watched the latest Harry Potter film and hung out for a while. Dave and his family left and I followed about 20 minutes later to give Angie time to pack before her early morning flight tomorrow. Even though I did not take as much time off during Christmas as I usually do while she is in town, we still had a great visit. She hopes to come again in the summer.

My mind is reminding me of its own sunset. I am looking forward to some rest. G'night.

AGOL's Hard Candy Christmas

Today was my day of reckoning with the Yuletide. I made the mistake of allowing myself to feel something at 7am as I gathered last minute items together for transport to my aunt's home. Tears fell for a good while. When I do allow myself to experience feelings, I feel them deeply. My sorrow magnified today of all days. Not the best way to greet Christmas, is it?

Sharing some snapshots from today:

Gifts at my aunt's house: it's a start...

Hiding...like dust bunnies and multiplying!

Two of my favorite people: Uncle Dave and Aunt Maria

We all drove to my cousin Dave's house for a whole fried turkey and rib roast dinner. We opened gifts, ate and drank. Did I mention eating??

Gingerbread house decorated by Kristen and Carter

Kristen and Carter rockin' out to their new game Guitar Hero

If you were hungry at this buffet, you were not here!!

Baby Colton plays it cool with Mommy and Uncle John

My aunt, uncle, Nan, cousin Angie and I left Dave's house and headed home. Nan and Uncle Dave headed home for Nan to get a nap while the rest of us did a drive-by gift exchange at my cousin Ida's house. The twins enjoyed their loot and Will loved his rock and roll themed goodies. We had to leave pretty much as soon as the gifts were open to go back to my aunt's and open our gifts to each other. Neverending...

I kept watching the clock because Cabal had to be taken out and fed. Angie's brother Gary showed up and we opened gifts for about an hour and a half. Good grief! Made my way home, but didn't get too far from my aunt's house. I was on the phone with Tawny when I noticed my engine light and brake light silently screaming red from the dash. Parked the car at the mall and called Angie to pick me up. After the running around to and from my place, to the parking lot and to the car shop where the auto club dropped off my car, it was 11pm. I arranged for Tawny and Jeff to give me a ride before they left for work at 7am.

Having a car problem on Christmas Day is not how I wanted this day to end. I know it could be worse...but it could've been better, too, by not occurring at all. Sigh. Good thing I am off the rest of the week. Read an e-mail that had a nice picture of what Christmas was like in the sender's location. I mentally transported myself there, swimming with the swans in one of Bushy Park's ponds.

Halloween Extravaganza

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!

Hello, my little ghouls and goblins! Tricks or Treats? I promised treats in yesterday's post and boy do I have them. Some of the tricks can be seen on the videos. It will be obvious that we didn't have a productive day today, but we sure had a blast. It was filled with breakfast treats and a costume contest sponsored by HR and lots of candy everywhere! Enjoy...

Lisa as a really cute Witch.

Bridget on skates & My Gang (Bridget, Boss & Temp)

>>>Please watch the volume on the videos.<<<

Bridget Rolling Down the Hall

Bridget Dancing...Gotta Luv Her!

Leann as a Happy Pumpkin in action is hysterical!

Here she is again...stationary.

Ooops, Officer Evie -- Here's what happened....

Christine having fun with Take Out.

Cruella stopped in, too!!

Are you tired from all the tricks and treats? Whew. Me, too, my Halloween Honeys. From the candy that Bridget brought in to being delivered some candy by other peeps and gobbling brownies made by Evie, I am Halloweened out.

Hope you and your kiddies had a safe one. And if you didn't participate in any way during this second most popular holiday in America (Christmas being first!) and have some childish fun, my message is in Bridget's belt buckle:

A Six-Year Old's Wisdom

It was family day at my aunt's house for a total of 15 adults and children this time around. We were there for a goodbye lunch for Nan's sister-in-law, Aunt Wilma. My aunt made a mouth-watering feast as usual. I saved up so I could sample everything and ended up taking some of it home to enjoy later.

I did have one plan which was to get clips of Carter since he always provides spontaneous entertainment. You can hear my voice interviewing him in the middle of our meal. This six-year old is priceless.

>>> Watch the volume please! <<<

CARTER BEFORE RICE:

CARTER AFTER RICE:

CARTER KNOWS FILIPINO:

As the family party wound down, my cousin Ida and her husband left me to take their kids home later. Ended up helping my goddaughter's twin, Crystal with her homework which she was finishing up at my uncle's computer. My cousin's printer had been acting up and needed to print out her homework.

Drove the kids home around 5pm and I drove myself for some Caramel Macchiato at Starbucks. My aunt's home has the power to sap my energy for some strange reason. Got home and took care of Cabal before e-mailing the pictures and videos taken from the party.

My friend Jill called me to demonstrate for her how skype works. She has some new computer challenged clients who need a quick tutorial. Her video was streaming, but mine was static. My webcam hasn't been properly calibrated since...nevermind. I'd better get some more usage out of it for the good money spent.

I keep looking at Carter's videos and they just make me smile with his charm. Kids are the greatest, aren't they? How can you not have a Happy Sunday after spending time with him and the other kids. They remind us that life is still...livable.

Shove Me Tender

I'm thinking that trying to sleep in is not working for me at all. It just ends up annoying me and the dog. We're going to have to compromise somewhere along the way.

Started to get ready for the day around 11am and eventually made a run to fill up my gas tank and run errands. Stopped at the store to get some portable folding sports chairs so Tawny and I could sit on the rink. Somehow a crafting tractor beam got me at the last minute and I ended up with foam hearts, foam letters and shapes with adhesive, metallic chenille stems and adhesive pin backs. I created these badges for us to wear in support of Hot Pocket. If I believe in you, I will do most anything to cheer you on and help support you. These little things get everyone focused, too.

My dining room table hasn't seen a craft project in months!

Picked up Tawny at her sister's home. They were watching the Green Bay Packers win over the Philadelphia Eagles. (I avoid watching football myself since I tend to get too involved and lose my voice.) We stopped to have an early dinner at a new burger joint in the neighborhood and were impressed. I'm not big on burgers, but this place is on the Approved List.

Here's Hot Pocket stopping by to see us in the middle of warm-ups. Fishnets, pads and roller skates - what could be sexier?

Holding up two extra badges for her to pass out to her other supporters.

All smiles with Ant and his (saintly wife for being with him) Becca. My - what cute badges!

Funny man Joey from work and his adorable wife Leslie. She's been to these bouts before but I don't think she ever had to wear a stylish badge.

Michelle is rockin' the Viking Hat (as our Viking Queen) and The Badge.

Becca was taking her turn with the Viking Hat.

Captured Hot Pocket and some of the girls warming up around the rink with me yelling "Hot Pocket" at the end as she passes by us.

My gosh. These girls skated, shoved and fell throughout the game. It was a great match to watch -- no powder puffs in this roller derby game. These girls would eat you alive! They have names like Sasha Haughtbitch, Spank Sinatra, Anne Tagonize, Wild Cherri, Mama Trauma, Joan of Ache and our own Hot Pocket. It was indeed very exciting and incredibly entertaining. Our team won 107 points to their 98.

You had to be there for this guy's whole performance during the two breaks. Ladies and gentlemen, a token video of Elvis Wesley.

I'd definitely go again. The girls don't have another home game for a couple of months; they are all away games. (Yawning) I'd better roll into bed myself. Might have to use skates to get around all the work piled at my desk.

Love Quote of the Day

Come dress yourself in love, let the journey begin.

- Francesca da Rimini

*I dressed myself in something alright. Uploaded/updated a couple of videos in July (4th & 10th) postings thanks to new blogger gizmo. They were not part of Project AGOL and didn't want them added on that site. Few of my peeps had wanted to see them so enjoy K, M and J! They were a total scream. Technology rocks.

Dammit Janet

Ever feel the need for some serious kind of crazy?

Yeah, I know you do. It starts out as a niggling feeling you can't describe. You ignore it. Work some more. A tickling feeling in the back of your neck keeps trying to get your attention. It feels so real you swat at it. Finally, you get up, get coffee and make chatty talk with people in the hallway you don't care deeply about. Back at your keyboard and monitor, you reestablish order. That only lasts for a bit because crazy has taken over. You just gotta, mama. With your hands on your hips...

No, I didn't do it in the aisle, but I did in my mind. Professional decorum will let you keep your job in the corporate world. The craziest thing I did today was smile a lot to the CEO of our North American Branch and even flirt a little when he asked me how I was doing. I said my normal groovy. I took it easy on the old guy, I didn't say groovylicious. I couldn't lie. He seems like an adorably sweet man. Little does he know I am campaigning to be the Smile Ambassador for our company. There is no such thing in our company, but it could happen.

Oh gosh. I was buried deep in my own work and doing a part of my ex-boss' job. E-mails and phone calls came in faster than I could research and answer, but I didn't do too shabby. It's like everyone woke up and remembered they needed contracts executed and resent.

Gave Tawny a ride home. Uncharacteristically, I stopped and bought pizza to-go for dinner. Too tired and too much of I don't give a flying fudgicle attitude to be bothered with healthy and nutritious. Also, poured in brain candy by watching America's Got Talent. Ooh, it's getting good.

The Singing Bee just started and I have some chores like washing the floors and washing the rugs to get done. You know, I didn't sign up for menial work at home. At my job that's different story, it was in Section 10.7.5.3b1 of my application.

Tuesday Twang

"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover." ~Mark Twain

Wondering if Mark Twain would still feel the same if he had to sift through the 21st Century BS. I have a great feeling that none of it would phase him. It would make him that much more determined to throw off the bowlines. After all, he was born in the Show Me* State, Missouri, where they don't believe it unless they see it.

On an odd note, Twain had a link to the Philippines in which he wrote Incident in the Philippines. His words were a part of his group's campaign in the opposition of the U.S. annexation of the Philippines. How's that for six-degrees to history?

Meanwhile, Yummy received another funny video e-mail from me. Instead of an alien, he received a cheery theme that starts out with me sporting a demented British accent. Poor bloke probably cringed as I cringe when he says things with an American accent. I don't mind showing my goofy side -- actually, I thought it was a rather cute clip. He needs an example of what not to do when you get a new webcam. Ha!

Updated with original video sent to Yummy thanks to new blogger gizmo. I should be embarrassed to post this, but I don't mind because it was real and there is beauty in truth:

Truth be told, my proficiency in creating the content and working with the technology are holding promises and possibilities for Project AGOL. I must set a deadline for myself to get those mini vids recorded and up on youtube rather sooner than later...

Worked steadily throughout the day and the mood at work was much improved as well. Maybe it was my mood now that I think about it.

Tawny couldn't stay away from e-mailing work peeps via her crackberry phone while they drove down the Southern States. She and her husband should be home late tonight. I believe she mentioned that by the time they get home from two weeks of vacation on the road, they will have driven through 18 States and racked up 8,400 miles. How many oil changes did that include?

Talked to Kristey on the way home. For some reason trying to write her during work hours is challenging. I was glad I caught up with her. She might meet us gals for walking on Saturday morning, but no promises. Keeping my fingers crossed. That would make four of us braving the heat and humidity.

Brought my lunch today and didn't eat all of it so I found myself craving some Southern fried chicken for dinner. The same fried chicken I denied myself on the 4th of July. I caved in and was satisfied. Will have to drink a vat full of water to counteract the sodium. Uh, make that two vats for the other serving I will be having for lunch tomorrow. Good lawd.

...............................................
*Show Me slogan wasn't coined and popularized until the last 13 years of Mark Twain's life.

Yankee Doodle AGOL

Happy Fourth of July!

Woke up normal time thanks to Cabal and sent Yummy his surprise. I told him he would receive it via e-mail at 10am his time. My e-mail contained a video of me I made using my new webcam. Get your mind outta the gutter. There is only room for mine.

Anyhoo, with this brand, they have avatars that you can calibrate to your face so that it can mimic your facial expressions as you speak and other cool accessories to superimpose on your face. I chose a green alien with a planet in the background and then giggled my way through the rest of the recording with other visual effects. It was quite hilarious. Yummy enjoyed it and we discussed it more during our IM chat in the afternoon. I told him my plan of using it for Project AGOL. We'll see how it goes.

Updated with the original video thanks to new blogger feature:

Received some holiday text wishes from Tawny and Kathy which always cracks me up. I used to be big on celebrating the 4th of July. Sometimes I would go to two events in one day. Now, well, now it is in the middle of the week which is awkward and I can't leave Cabal to watch fireworks. The blasts going off around the neighborhood bother him too much.

Thinking about Independence Day makes me think of my own citizenship. In April 1984, I became a US citizen. I didn't understand the whole thing when I took my oath at 12 years of age, but I have learned to respect the privilege...

Today also makes me remember celebrating the Bicentennial (1976!) in the Philippines. I remember being with my mom on the Air Force Base watching the fireworks display while sitting in the bleachers of a football field. Looking up in the black sky, pyrotechnic chrysanthemums exploded in the air one by one. I would imagine them as gifts raining down from the sky. I can even recall the commemorative white t-shirt with American emblems on it.

Spent the evening watching TV and comforting Cabal during the fireworks in the neighborhood. He really doesn't like hearing the explosions. Poor pup. Wherever I went he was a step behind me. Oh man! I just remembered I have an American flag bandanna for him. He would've been so cute with it around his neck! Sigh. Guess we'll have to settle for him being naturally cute. He's got enough cute to go around.

Montezuma 2012

Yummy shocked me this morning by posting my Self-Portrait youtube entry on his blog. Like I told him in an e-mail, there is a difference between quietly putting it out there and sending fireworks to see it. Good thing I love fireworks.

After working through my initial panic, I collected myself and realized that it is all good. I thanked Yummy properly. What will happen when I start populating the site with video clips with me talking live in it? That is the whole will point, to be seen and considered for proper things.

Had a rousing lunch with T&J and John from work and Jill (formerly of work) at Macaroni Grill. I thought the car ride was going to kill me with laughter. Wits were being sharpened to rapier points on each other. Once we arrived, our waiter took forever in serving us and getting us our bill. It's not like we are executives who can get away with having two-hour lunches. On the bright side, it gave John and I time to decide whether the waiter belonged to his family. It was difficult to discern whether he flew a rainbow flag or not.

When the bill finally came and we left, Jeff had to stop and get some fuel for the car. AND THEN...we got stuck in line off our highway exit. Yup, two-hour lunch. The car ride back was pure comedy. I laughed so hard I couldn't see.

Tawny bribed me by offering to accompany me to babyshower shopping after our walk tomorrow morning so I could go to the second to last showing of 2012 (Montezuma's Last Prophecy) tonight. It is another play by the artists at the Cigar Factory. It had the following elements: virgin sacrifices, aliens and a giant tequila worm eating everything at the end. Our other friends met us there and we all enjoyed that tequila worm. For a low-budget production, it was entertaining with its bizarre story line and the drumming music that accompanied the play.

Virgin sacrifices being carted in.

Montezuma killing and eventually disembowling one virgin sacrifice.

Mayan calendar lifts to reveal an alien.

One giant tequila worm devours all the inhabitants at the end.

Bummed a ride home with Kathy and Jaime. I couldn't wait to get home for a shower and a mug of warm milk to help me sleep. Have to get up at 4:30am which right now will be in three hours. Caffeine might have to be fed me intravenously. It's going to be busy Saturday.

Name That Tune

While the boss is away, the girls...are not at play. Bridget had built up exhaustion from roller derby practice during the weeknights and I was quietly restless. I was the buyer for today so I had an activity while she spent the day finding ways to combat yawning in between paperwork and fending off an unwanted office admirer.

During the day, Tawny and I tortured each other with vintage TV themes and shows. That is never pretty because it forces you to admit some things from your childhood. You might need therapy.

We sang this song in 6th grade chorus...We were rockin!

For Tawny...Sorry about your childhood. Ha!

Hooked On This Tune...for TWO DAYS now and singing in the corridors with Tawny. Ugh.

I have the complete Season One on DVD. Might even go home and use aluminum foil for bracelets.

My gals sang this song with me in the lunchroom the other day. It jes ain't Ahmehrkn if ya down't know this sawng.

Sometime in the afternoon, people in the building began to leave for the long weekend. I sent Bridget home at 4pm so she could get to sleep much sooner. It was quiet by 4:30pm. Crickets were making themselves heard!

Tawny asked me for a ride home which gave me a better excuse to cut out a little after 5pm. We stopped for some light grocery shopping. I couldn't go home without more food and treats for my Pretty Boy Dog. Dropped Tawny off right after and confirmed pick-up time for pizza in Ybor with old friends tomorrow night.

Simplicity in what you eat can be very rewarding. I cut up the last pear I had along with some white cheddar and included several circles of Carr's crackers. Dinner was fabulous in five minutes and I didn't have to cook a thing.

I thought about putting one of the discount DVDs I just bought like Down with Love, the classic White Palace and a new one from the creator of Bend It Like Beckam called The Mistress of Spices. No epics. Not in the mood for soaring storylines or special effects. My attention span just wasn't up to any of it I guess so I am going to sleep early.

....crickets.
