Rained In

This lazy daisy used the excuse of the outside monsoon to stay in. To help celebrate, I brewed some coffee and used my French press to infuse the coffee goodness into the boiled filtered water. I then sprinkled some shugah and creamah into a mug to melt and to meld with the fresh coffee goodness. Voila! Now I had the purity I call lava lovin'. Drinking one mug of coffee in serene silence, standing in the kitchen, damn near brings a tear to my eye.

Well, an AGOL can't live on lava lovin' alone. My tummy said so. I baked an egg in a ramekin sprayed with non-stick spray. See how nice it came out of the dish? I also used one of my high fiber cardboard tasting muffins. Plain or buttered wouldn't do. I had to spread some lovin' on it called a thin smear of mayonnaise, a sprinkling of onion powder and freshly grated sharp cheddar cheese. The cheese wasn't good enough just melted -- I had to fire up the broiler for some dark golden bubbling.

Damn. I didn't know there were others things you might want pictures of in my mini kitchen. Below is a bottle of cold pressed olive oil. What makes it expensive is the process so it can still be called raw as the heat from pressing is minimized. The brand? Bariani. My health food stores carry this. Once you have tasted this olive oil, you will never buy the ones from the grocery store ever again as they will taste rancid next to this. I've decorated it with an Italian copper Christmas heart ornament.

My Pretty Boy Dog hasn't been on the blog since Christmas, I think. I almost tripped on him numerous times while he sat in that particular spot. My job was to work around him and try not to spill anything as I prepared and cooked some soup infused with ginger for a late lunch. Cabal has always been afraid of storms and he tends to stick to me like glue when he hears the thunder. You can see his uneasiness in this picture. My poor baby!

There wasn't much else I felt like doing today; my creativity was dormant. The coolest thing was after getting ready for bed and tucking myself in bed, I looked up at the ceiling where the projected blue numbers read 11:00pm. It must have been the rain that got me to bed early.

AGOL is Asian?

It has been a few months since I have walked the woods just miles from my apartment. Kristey was already there by the time I arrived. Her new friend was nowhere in sight. I found out later that she was horrified that we would begin our walk at 8:30am. She was lucky because last year we started at 7:30am! We blissfully completed our own four mile circuit with me noting a lone red dragonfly along the way.

My friends always want me to bring my Pretty Boy Dog, but it would be more hassle than happy for either of us. He's getting on in years and he hates other dogs. It would be stressful to try to control him every third mile when we would encounter other dogs. He wouldn't make the whole circuit. He's a spoiled aging gentle doggie. Belly and back rubs are more his style.

When I got home, I saw another flying creature. This time it was a large needle dragonfly flying near my door. What kind of messages are my winged friends bringing me? I had no time to think about it more until hours later on my way to see my hairdresser Michelle.

I bought a musical card for Michelle that played Gloria Gaynor's I Will Survive and I tucked in her pictures of her kittens I had taken last weekend. She wants me to take pictures with her more sophisticated camera next time I come over because she says I take good shots...

It has become a habit to stop at the bubble tea place a few doors down where I ordered the same flavor of jackfruit with mango fruits gels and boba (tapioca pearls). The Vietnamese guy behind the counter asked me how I knew about jackfruit. I told him I was half Filipino and with a face full of surprise he asked me, You're Asian?! I almost died. I said yes and how I was born in the Philippines and had lived the first 11 years of my life there. His lady helper heard this last bit and said to me, You're Asian?! OMG. Were these people blind? Did they not see my chinky eyes? I called Angie and Tawny to ask them if they knew I was Asian. We had a great laugh.

(To their credit, I am only HALF Asian...Still, give me a break.)

Ended up at Tawny's with her family for a very non-Asian dinner of cheeseburgers. I was a nuisance to her in the kitchen, but I was a good helper in setting up the table and making sure everything was on there. Stayed late enough to remember that they had to get an early start to go to Universal Studios tomorrow. Walked back across the complex to my doggie who waited for me like an irate parent. Apparently, the only allowable fun in his book is with him. Good thing he is cute...That's all I can say.

Baby, It's Cold Outside!

My Pretty Boy Dog (tri-colored sable Sheltie whose real name is Cabal) woke me up at 3:40am this morning to go outside. When a dog has to go, a dog has to go even if it is dark-thirty! I quickly realized the temperature had plunged into a freezing temp overnight. Later I found out it was 46 friggin' degrees, not quite freezing, but it was still 20 degrees colder than the day before. It had become the first official winter weather day in the humble city of 'Trampa'.

As PBD sidestepped the leftover sprinkler moisture on the cement sidewalk outside our apartment, I began chanting "nippili erecti nippili erecti" (pronounced nipple eye erect eye) while doing the Asian Lady Shuffle Walk at warp speed. This involves keeping your legs tightly together while you let from your knees down do all the walking. Of course, with thighs rubbing together (how could one help it?), I almost became a member of the Campfire Girl Club with the heat generated. I might have burst into flames if it weren't for the cold!

Cabal looked at me as if to say, "WTF?" Like it was *my* fault it was cold?! I had to concentrate on multi-tasking. Doing the Asian Lady Shuffle Walk and covering your chest from the chilling breeze while trying to corral a hyper dog are enough to try the patience of this Asian Goddess -- OY! I hadn't even wiped the naughty dreams from my eyes yet or had a nirvana cup of java...We did finally do PBD's morning circuit around the complex and returned to the warmth of the apartment -- 70 degrees. I looked at him and he looked at me with eyes that said, "I am worth it because I am pretty darn cute. Breakfast?"

Next time, I'm wearing corduroys just to join the Campfire Girls...complete with a Hot Dog!
